Bargara Remembers Inc.
In the early hours of 25th April each year, thousands of local residents, visitors, friends and strangers gather in silence on Bargara’s foreshore to pay homage to those who made the supreme sacrifice and those who have served their country since the birth of the ANZAC spirit on the shores of Gallipoli in 1915.
As the darkness relents to an emerging dawn and the sun breaks over the ocean’s horizon, it’s a time to reflect, to honour, to remember.

Dawn Service Program
The Bargara Anzac Day Dawn Service is a solemn experience allowing individuals to acknowledge the legacies of the Anzacs and their service to our nation. We gather together in the early hours of the morning, standing united honouring their memory as a community and passing on the tradition for generations to come.
Gunfire Breakfast
The Gunfire Breakfast is a tradition celebrated on Anzac day that holds deep meaning and significance. This powerful and moving tradition is a moment for us to come together and pay respects to those who have served our country so valiantly. The term “gunfire” is a symbol of the courage and determination our brave soldiers had during wartime.
Two-Up
Two-Up! Gather ’round, spin those coins, and immerse yourself in this tradition that honours our Anzac heroes. Join your friends and take part in the legendary and exciting game of two-up! With just a wooden paddle and two coins.
The game gained popularity among Australian & New Zealand soldiers during the First World War as a form of entertainment and camaraderie.

Bringing the Dawn Service to Bargara each year is a labour of love, made possible by our dedicated volunteer committee—many of whom also juggle full-time jobs. From staging and sound to logistics, chair hire, the free community gunfire breakfast, the flyover aerial salute, and permits, the costs quickly add up, and we rely entirely on community support to make it happen.
